The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with defenseman Colten Teubert, the club?s first-round selection (13th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.
Teubert, 18, played in 66 regular season games this past season for Regina of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and recorded 23 points (7-16=23) and 135 penalty minutes. His 23 points ranked third among Regina defensemen. In six playoff games, the 6-4, 185-pound blue-liner from White Rock, British Columbia, had five points (1-4=5) and six penalty minutes.
Teubert represented Canada at the 2008 IIHF World Under-18 Championships and was a member of Team Canada at the Under-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial in August 2007. He also represented Team British Columbia at the 2007 Winter Games. Teubert recently took part in Canada?s National Junior Team Development camp and the Kings? annual Development Camp in El Segundo.
The first overall selection in the 2005 Bantam Draft, Teubert played one more season at home in British Columbia, suiting up for the South West Hawks in the Major Midget League for the 2005-06 season, before joining Regina as a 16-year-old.
Teubert was one of two Kings first-round selections in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Defenseman Drew Doughty, the second overall selection, signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Kings earlier this month.

The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on three-year entry-level contracts with defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov and forward Andrei Loktionov, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. Per club policy, terms of the agreements were not announced.
Voynov was the Kings? second-round selection (32nd overall), while Loktionov was the club?s fifth-round pick (123rd overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Voynov, 18, spent the last two seasons with Traktor Chelyabinsk of the Russian Hockey League. Last season the 6-0, 190-pound native of Chelyabinsk, Russia, had four points (1-3=4), 20 penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating in 36 games. Voynov was the youngest member of Team Russia at the 2007 World Junior Championships and competed again for Russia at the 2008 World Junior Championships. He was also a member of the silver medal-winning Team Russia at the 2008 Under-18 World Championships, tying for the team lead among defensemen with five points (1-4=5) in six games.
Loktionov, 18, made his debut in the Russian Super League last season and he recorded one assist in five games. The 5-11, 187-pound native of Voskresensk, Russia, was teammates with Voynov for silver medal-winning Team Russia at the 2008 Under-18 World Championships, recording eight points (3-5=8) and 29 penalty minutes in six games. Loktionov was also a member of Team Russia at the 2007 Under-18 World Championships, where he registered six points (2-4=6) and a plus-4 rating in seven games.
Both players recently participated in the Kings? annual Development Camp in El Segundo.

Doughty, 18, played in 58 regular season games this past season for Guelph of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and recorded 50 points (13-37=50) and 68 penalty minutes. His 50 points ranked third overall on Guelph and tied for ninth among OHL defensemen, and he ranked third on Guelph with nine power-play goals. In 10 playoff games, the 6-0, 219-pound blue-liner from London, Ontario, had nine points (3-6=9) and 14 penalty minutes.
Doughty was one of four 2008 draft-eligible players to help Team Canada win a gold medal at the 2008 World Junior Championships. He was named Top Defenseman of the tournament after recording four assists in seven games. Doughty became just the fifth Canadian defenseman to have won the award and the first to win the award before being drafted into the NHL. He also recently took part in Canada?s National Junior Team Development camp in Ottawa and the Kings? annual Development Camp in El Segundo.
Doughty was named as an alternate captain for the 2008 OHL All-Star Classic and also participated in the 2007 OHL All-Star Classic. He was voted Best Offensive Defenseman in the 2007 and 2008 OHL Coaches Poll and named to the OHL All-Rookie Team in 2005-06. He represented Canada at the 2007 IIHF World Under-18 Championships and the 2006 IIHF World Under-17 Championships.
Panthers Agree To Terms With Sprukts
The Panthers on Friday agreed to terms with center Janis Sprukts on a two-year deal, as reported by yahoo.com.
Sprukts, who recorded one goal and two assists with Florida in 2006-07, returns to the team after playing for Lukko of the Finnish Elite League last season.
